Beginner’s Crochet Course Description

There are many complicated forms of arts and crafts in the world, but crocheting isn’t one of them. The skill levels involved can range from completing easy projects over a weekend to creating advanced intricate artworks one piece at a time. One hook and one basic stitch already allows you to produce an abundance of projects, and learning that one basic stitch is incredibly easy.

Class 1

  • Introduction. Daniela shares her passion for crocheting and what it can be used to create.
  • Materials and equipment. Students are introduced to the materials and equipment they will use throughout the course.
  • Practice. They learn basic chain and single crochet stitches on a practice cord, and how to read a crochet pattern.
  • Create. Students move onto a yarn colour of their choice and make a bow hair tie.

Class 2

  • Review. The basic chain and single crochet stitches are reviewed.
  • Practice. Students learn to do the magic ring and increasing on a practice cord to crochet in rounds.
  • Create. They move onto a yarn colour of their choice and make a coaster.

Class 3

  • Sketch. Students plan the colour combination for their crochet beads necklace on paper.
  • Review. The magic ring and increasing are reviewed.
  • Practice. Students learn to decrease on a practice cord to form a ball.
  • Create. They move onto yarn and begin to crochet beads according to their planned colours.

Class 4

  • Create. Students continue to work on the crochet beads.
  • Finalize. Beads are threaded onto a ribbon to form a necklace.
